Abercastle
Sharing the same coastline with neighbouring Trefin and Porthgain is the beautiful village of Abercastle. An old trading harbour saw it export limestone, slate, honey, butter and grain in it's day. With coastal walks either side and a 5000 year old stone monument 'Carreg Samson' a short walk away... |
Barafundle Bay
Between Stackpole Quay and Broad Haven South you will find Pembrokeshire's own piece of paradise that is Barafundle Bay. With its golden soft sand and turquoise waters you could easily mistake this place for being somewhere abroad. The only disadvantage being that parking is currently only available at Stackpole Quay which means that it is not easily accessed by everyone. |
Blackpool Mill
Built in 1813 by the owner of the Slebech Estate (Nathaniel Phillips) this now abandoned Mill is still a lovely place with footpaths all around with some stunning sights. Popular with dog walkers and nature enthusiasts it would be lovely to see this building reopened one day, we shall see... |
Bosherston Lily Ponds
Located on the Stackpole Estate in Pembrokeshire these Lily Ponds are an extremely popular venue for walkers, nature enthusiasts, photographers and countless others. More of an attraction in the warmer months when the Lily pads appear on the ponds, this place however looks stunning all year round. |
Broad Haven
Broad Haven is one of Pembrokeshire's most popular Beaches. Easy to get to and with beaches either side it proves popular for dog walkers, tourists, photographers and surfers. Due to it's position it is always good for a Sunset as you can see from my images. |
Broad Haven South
Not to be mistaken for the other 'Broad Haven' as they are in the opposite direction and miles apart! Situated near Bosherston Lily Ponds on the Stackpole Estate in Pembrokeshire, this beach and it's popularity is due to it's crystal clear waters and beautiful sands. Great for a Sunrise and look out for 'Church Rock' which appears to follow you as you walk from one end of the beach to the other.... |
Carew Castle & Tidal Mill

Church Door Cove (nr Manorbier)
Roughly 10 minutes from Manorbier and next door to the small beach of Shrinkle Haven lies Church Door Cove. A fantastic piece of natures artwork and history at its finest. One note to make, if venturing down there make sure you are prepared for the walk back up the steps after, they are steep and dont seem to end! I would also advise to check tide times as if you get all the way down there and the tide is in then you are very restricted as to what you can explore there. |
Druidstone Haven
Nestled between Broad Haven and Nolton Haven it is easy to drive past this gem of a beach. There are not many places to park and its a short stony walk to the beach itself but when there you will be glad you did. The Druidstone Hotel overlooks the beach and has a footpath leading to it, perfect place to stay if you want night after night of Sunsets (weather permitting!) |
Freshwater West
This beach is set near Castlemartin, known for its strong currents it is popular for Surfers. Rock pools are a common site on the beach often very large. This beach has been the setting for movies previously and can be seen in Robin Hood (2010) and Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows (Parts 1 & 2) |

The Castle of Llawhaden sits on a hill overlooking the River Cleddau 10 miles east of Haverfordwest. I only discovered this by accident while travelling through this small village, not ever knowing a Caste even existed there! |

Marloes / Marloes Sands
Just a stone throw from St Brides to it's North and West Dale Bay to it's South lies the sleepy village of Marloes. A short drive through to the Marloes Sands car park it leaves you with two options of how to get to it's beach, each taking approximately 15 minutes to get to with some beautiful sights to be had along the way... |
Newgale Beach

Newquay Beach - St Govan's
Situated between St Govan's Chapel and Broad Haven South this stunning little beach is one of Pembrokeshire's best kept secrets. When the tide is in it is hard to know this place even exists, but when out it reveals White stones and then a beautiful sandy beach. Well worth a look if you walking the Coastal path in that area. |
Preseli Hills (Pembrokeshire Coast National Park) and surrounding villages
North of the Pembrokeshire county sits the Preseli Hills, miles and miles of stunning rural scenery. Extremely popular with dog walkers and photographers. Bare in mind when you are there on days when the weather is unpredictable as it can change extremely quickly here, and always remember where you have parked the car! |
Porthgain
This very small historic fishing village is now an extremely popular tourist spot all year round, even a little 'too' popular in the Summer! I remember it from quieter times as this is where my Mother was born and my Grandparents lived, so many weekends were spent here as a child. Full of history at every turn and slap bang in-between the Pembrokeshire Coastal path, a beautiful place to visit. |
Solva & nearby Gribin
One of Pembrokeshire's most picturesque and recognizable places is Solva Harbour. With beautiful Coastal walks either side to get there, you are greeted by a beautiful Blue Harbour with sailing boats. Venturing into the Village you will find small Cafe's, the odd Restaurant and small gift shops. A must visit place if ever in Pembrokeshire. |
St Brides -
Lying on the South of St Brides Bay is the small village and parish of St Brides. Popular with divers for its crystal clear shallow waters this popular place lies on route of the Pembrokeshire Coastal path. |
St David's - This Cathedral earns St David's the title of being the smallest City in Great Britain. Surrounding the Cathedral there are an abundance of small Cafes and Gift Shops with plenty of parking available with the Cathedral being it's main attraction.
|
St Govan's Chapel - Built in the 13th Century from Limestone onto the side of a cliff this chapel attracts many when permitted. The area is often closed off due to firing on the nearby Castlemartin range so it is advised to check in advance before your journey there. Also advisable are sturdy walking boots to cope with the steps that lead down to the Chapel, they are on the slippery side and rather steep and uneven.
|
Stack Rocks and Green Bridge
These natural wonders are situated next door to each other, located very close to the Castlemartin firing range in Pembrokeshire and about an hours walk Westerly from St Govan's Chapel. I paid my first visit there this year and they did not disappoint. One ward of warning, always check the footpath and roads are open before venturing there as they are often closed due to firing at Castlemartin. |
Stackpole Quay
One of Pembrokeshire's hidden delights is Stackpole Quay, it boasts beautiful walks all around with the nearby Stackpole Estate, Bosherston Lily Ponds and is also the main parking place should you wish to venture to Barafundle Bay. |
Strumble Head Lighthouse
Situated in North Pembrokeshire I was very excited to visit this Lighthouse after seeing it's light from the cliff tops of Porthgain since a young child. A little tricky to get to with the lack of road signs and narrow roads, but it is well worth the visit |
Tenby
Nearly everybody knows this place, extremely popular with tourists, packed with gift shops, stunning scenery and a beautiful Harbour full of boats, not to mention its colourful buildings! |
Traeth Llyfn (and surrounding coastline)
A short walk along the coastal path between the village of Porthgain and Abereiddy you will reach the top of a steep staircase which leads you down to this beach. It is also reached by walking through nearby Ynys Barri holiday cottages and taking the signposts there. A stunning place even if the walk back up the steps after a long day are a bit of a killer. |
Westdale Bay
A short walk from the village of Dale and with a view of Skokholm Island is Westdale Bay. Easily accessed by foot the beach is never too busy and is host to great sunsets throughout the year |
Whitesands Bay
This beach is situated very close to St David's and is popular with Surfers with beach being known as the best surfing beach in Pembrokeshire. Also popular with tourists however Dogs are banned on the beach during the Summer months, so worth baring in mind when visiting. |
